I’ll admit it, I’m a dreamer. Never been one for practicality. I think it has to do with growing up in L.A. It’s the capital of reinvention, of realized fantasy.
And I’m not even talking about the monthly arrivals of mid-western beauty queens at the greyhound terminal. I used to drive along Mulholland Drive, overlooking the city, dreaming of BIG THINGS. Big things I would create. Not sure what they would be.
I saw today that Forbes ranked Los Angeles the #1 Overpriced City in American. Dreaming is getting more expensive these days. I hope this doesn’t discourage the optimist, the actress, the writer, the painter, the guitarist, the chef, from coming to L.A. and dreaming big. Making it in L.A. is one of those milestones for creative people. And without the fruit of their creative spirit, what would we have to blog about?
