Thanks For Making Me Cry on a Street Corner

this-american-life

This old episode of This American Life was rerun this week and featured a one-minute recording of a New York city bus driver. I was pretty much a mess by the end of it, sniffling on Ashland with a bag of poop in my hand. So dignified.

Listen to Ronald Ruiz’s story here. It’ll just take a minute.

StoryCorps, where Ruiz’s story was recorded, is”one of the largest oral history projects of its kind”, with each story recorded and kept on record at the Library of Congress. It’s nice to have actual proof that some of us Americans aren’t complete assholes.
