So much of blogging is posting digital eye candy, scooped up from somewhere else on the internet. We cut it up in photoshop, glue-gun some fur to it, bedazzle it within an inch of its life, then throw it back on to the interweb. Viola! Don’t you love my blahg, aren’t I fabulous?? We are masters of collage.
We aim for Coco Chanel, and end up Miss Haversham. It’s no matter. We’d rather share a cocktail with Anne Bancroft any day.
So imagine our surprise at being honored with an award from someone who sees past the makeshift storefront and takes the time to come in and sample the goods. It feels good. My cat may think I’m wasting my time and my husband has yet to read my blog, but there is someone out there who reads me.
We’ve been awarded the Excessively Diverting Blog Award
from the incomparable Bethanais over at
“This award was started by the blogging team at Jane Austen Today” – “The aim of the Award is to acknowledge writing excellence in the spirit of Jane Austen’s genius in amusing and delighting readers with her irony, humor, wit, and talent for keen observation. Recipients will uphold the highest standards in the art of the sparkling banter, witty repartee, and gentle reprove. Recipients are to please claim your award. You may post the badge, list the name of the person who nominated you and link to their blog. Then you may nominate other blogs that you feel meet or exceed the standards set forth. But if by chance, you are Award weary – please just enjoy the honor!”
In no particular order…
Susannah exemplifies Elinor Dashwood’s undaunted courage despite the absence of a trust fund. And because she cracks our buns up daily.
Squid Pro Quo (formerly known as Reclaiming Miss Haversham.)
Leslie is an analytical feminist in the Austen vein. And because Elizabeth Bennet’s mud laced traipses about the countryside have nothing on this girl’s public transport adventures.
because author Aviva is a non-stop riot. And Ms. Austen knows there’s nothing more delightful in life than tea and a good hearty laugh with your soul sisters.
because no day at the Bennet’s house would be complete without an exquisite table full of lovely culinary treats. And no culinary blog serves up diverting bites like Heathy.
In this great 21st Century experiment known as the “blogosphere,” we’re just happy to have a voice that anyone cares to listen to. Thank you for the honor Bethenais!
