Up With People

To dear persistent cookie (who’s in danger of losing faith in people today),

Yes, that’s right. This is no longer a review blog but one giant, public email system.

I have culled three reasons why you should still believe in us, the human race.

I. It’s fall. And people you don’t know have taken the time to frame these images

check the light

set the aperture

and press the button at just the right time. (Not that this guy’s going anywhere soon)

II. This movie just came out and yes, Happy Go Lucky people are out there. They even found the time and resources to make a movie to prove our existence amongst the cynics who just want to make Spiderman 4.

III. Meet your new home page- The Good News Network

Check out these headlines: “New Cancer Meds Offer Real Hope”- “Girl With Down Syndrome Voted Homecoming Queen” – “Texas Schools Win $1 Million for Advancing Poor Students”. Give poor, laboring CNN and the pundits a break for the afternoon and instead read about a hiker who was saved by a rescue dog after being lost for a week. You have to register and subscribe for a fee, which is a bummer, but there is a 30 day free trial. And who knows, maybe if enough people get their daily fill of good news for a change, there won’t be a need to charge us for it. Then we can all just sit on the happy carpet and hold hands and braid each other’s hair and eat brownies and pet newborn puppies and sing songs about carob or something.

Ok, I’ve officially succeeded in making myself nauseous. If the image of me dry heaving in a circle of dopy hippies doesn’t bring a smile to your face, I really don’t know what will.

Have a lovely day.
